Recently, I came into posession of a Creality Ender 3 V3 KE. It’s a really nice machine and my first step into the fascinating world of additive manufacturing. Spoiler: Printing is the easy part nowadays. The value creation is in creating great models!
Over time, I printed many spaghetti monsters. Here are the rules I always follow to get great prints, so you don’t have to make my mistakes:
- Dial in your printer and your filament. Make sure the bed is nice and level, and your filament can flow freely. Tune parameters to fit your filament. The OrcaSlicer guide is great to learn and follow.
- For models higher than 2cm use a brim. My printer has a textured plate. I could use adhesive but I really prefer this method. It always prevents models from getting knocked over.
- Use a random seam position whenever your object is round
- Use Fuzzy Skin when you want surfaces that are nice to touch, even with PLA.
- Slow printing down for better layer cooling with small (in terms of surface) final layers.
- Print objects that need to be really strong at an angle, so that layers are not fully horizonal or vertical.
Thanks for reading an happy printing!
